Ferdinand Berthoud Chronomètre Watches

Maybe many of you know the name of Ferdinand Berthoud as one of the important names in the history of watchmaking and as the father, with Pierre Le Roy, marine chronometers. A name that has recently risen as Chopard Haute Horlogerie brand within their group. Announced in 2013, the first watch of the firm, the Chronomètre FB 1, is the first of a series of watches inspired by the life and work of French watchmaker.

Named Master watchmaker in Paris in 1753 at 26, Berthoud became the watchmaker of the French Navy in 1762 and was subsequently appointed mechanical watchmaker del Rey in 1770. During the second half of the eighteenth century produced more than 20 different calibres, following the path begun by Henry Sully and improving marine chronometer H4 of John Harrison, simplifying construction and adjustment.

The story of Mr. Berthoud is one of many that are losing itself throughout history, until someone finds a common thread to their work and recreates a job where you are honors. Ferdinand Berthoud actually knew him from our visits to the museum Patek Philippe, where there are exposed several of its marine chronometers, and in the following photos you can appreciate.

CEO Watch

One of the good things about being director watchmaker is to always carry a relojazo, things of product placement . However, there are others who have spent many years in the brand, and not just leave them clocks, these are also the give away. And they do not give away any watches them, no! We often talk normally very rare and some unique pieces like this that already we explained at the time (cases see news) .

A couple of weeks ago for the CRMS Madrid had the chance to share a super relaxed coffee with the director of Montblanc Spain. We hate death that the press releases and purely professional interviews, we enjoy that time as the most. In order to account watchmaking is passion and we believe that the perfect place to get good anecdotes context are those relaxed moments generated around a table.

Footballers, Watches and Instagram VII

A. Lange & Söhne Watches

In this pre-summer season we are most watchmakers soirees of the year. We do not know if that spring alters blood, or that we are more willing to come straight from the office and approach the event in question.

Today we wanted to get close to one of the most complicated events riding logistically by the uniqueness of its parts. It is nothing more and nothing less than the first time in our country where you can see together the milestones of A. Lange and debuts presented in Geneva last January at the SIHH 2016.

During the event we had the great opportunity to chat with Wilhelm Schmid (CEO of A. Lange & Söhne) which is always rewarding, and although he declined to directly answer the most complicated questions highly appreciate that a leader of a world as closed as watchmaking sitting and talking with the media so openly.

Omega Collection Rio 2016

On the 27th occasion, Omega will be the official timekeeper for the next Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro next August. Therefore, the firm has launched two new limited editions to commemorate based on two of its most iconic models event; Seamaster and Speedmaster Bullhead Rio 2016 Rio 2016 Mark II.

The Seamaster Bullhead Rio 2016, of which only 316 units will be produced, using the colors of the Olympic rings in both the minute scale of its inner bezel and the stitching of her blue leather strap, giving an aspect of the more colorful perfect for summer.

Panerai Luminor Watches

The Panerai family has since a few days ago a new member who will accompany Radiomir and Luminor their collections; Due talk about the new Luminor, with the usual design of the Luminor case but with a substantial difference; a much finer box.

The new collection was presented last week in Florence, at the event organized by Dive into time signature, with four models, two with a box of 42 mm and two 45 mm box, available in steel and red gold. Both couples accounts with thick boxes 10.5 and 10.7 mm respectively. We can not talk about that are just extra-fine, but they represent a considerable height reduction compared to 1950 Luminor and Luminor collections, which range between 15 and 17 millimeters high.

Heuer Carrera 1158

Last Saturday was held at the prestigious auction house Sotheby’s auction in Geneva Important Watches, with 269 lots including pieces of Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin, among others, as is usual in auctions of this level. The total proceeds of the auction exceeded 4 million Swiss francs, the most expensive piece a Patek Philippe pocket, perpetual calendar and minute repeater in white gold, with a final price of 472,000 Swiss francs, about 425,000 euros.
