Hong Kong was a British possession from 1842 to 1997 and is today, together with Macao, one of two special administrative regions in China. Under the “One Country, Two Systems” policy, Hong Kong has been allowed to maintain its own economic and political system.

Dominant sectors of Hong Kong’s economy are logistics, finance, tourism and trade. Hong Kong’s government and business are seeking ever closer economic integration with southern and western China.
