Hotels in Dubai

The number of hotels in Dubai is growing steadily. Recent openings include Address HotelsVida Hotels and Rove Hotels. The official categories from one to five stars are supplemented by the additional categories ‘Business’, ‘Beach’, ‘Desert’ and ‘Heritage’ as well as the additions ‘Platinum’, ‘Gold’ or ‘Silver’.

Ten percent taxes and again so much for service are due in addition to the room price when paying the hotel bill. The porters usually expect a tip.

A tourist tax is levied in the Emirate of Dubai based on the hotel classification.
Amount per room and per night:
5 star hotels / accommodations: AED 20 (approx. € 4),
4 star hotels / accommodations: AED 15 (approx. € 3),
3 and 2 star hotels / accommodations: AED 10 (about 2 €).

The hotels below have been divided into three price categories:

Luxurious (over 2,000 Dh)
Moderate (1,000 Dh to 2,000 Dh)
Inexpensive (up to 1,000 Dh)

The room prices shown are the lowest for a double room with taxes but without breakfast unless otherwise stated.

Madinat Jumeirah

The Madinat Jumeirah is a hotel complex that impresses at the same time due to its size and attention to detail. The building complex with over 800 rooms includes the two “Grand Boutique” hotels and the 29 exclusive villas with gardens. The hotel, built and decorated in Arabic style, is located on Jumeirah Beach. Pretty details are the 3.7 km long canals, from which guests can get from their rooms to the 45 restaurants of the complex, the one kilometer long private beach and the luxurious Six Senses Spa. The Madinat Arena event center can accommodate up to 4,550 people.

Al Maha Resort

This luxurious holiday hotel complex is reminiscent of the Dubai of yesteryear when it was just an Arab desert state that was traversed by nomads. The eco-friendly style of the hotel with 30 suites is very reserved and both the decor and the facilities are designed so that the surrounding desert is affected as little as possible. Great importance is attached to personal service and so there are three employees for each hotel guest. You can take desert excursions organized by the hotel with all-wheel drive SUVs – or alternatively riding camels. The only downside is that you feel very far away from civilization. The drive to the city center alone takes about an hour. Meeting rooms for up to 20 people are available.

Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa

The Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa is the favorite destination of many vacationers. It is not a 5-star hotel in the middle of other hotels, but its own complete holiday complex. The location at the end of Jebel Ali is not ideal (it will be when the new airport goes into operation), but the advantage is that you feel like you are in a different world, like when Dubai was just starting from the first tourist was discovered. Birds chirp and cats play in the spacious hotel grounds, and deck chairs invite you to linger in the green or on the beach in discreet niches. For leisure activities there is a riding school, a first-class wellness center, a shooting range, an excellent golf course with nine holes, not to mention the many restaurants and bars.

Al Bustan Rotana

Part of the Leading Hotels of the World, led by Imad Elias, this hotel is one of the best-established 5-star hotels for business travelers in all of Dubai. It is very conveniently located near the airport and the city center. The 300 guest rooms are divided into standard rooms, the Club Rotana executive floor (with its own business center and office service) and a number of luxury suites. The rooms on the first floor have direct access to the outdoor swimming pool and the four tennis courts. The largest event space is the Grand Rashidiya Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 1,500 people. Leisure facilities include the private beach club on Jumeirah and the hotel’s Bodylines Health Club fitness center.

Grand Hyatt

The Hyatt Group hotel, which opened in 2003, quickly established itself as one of the best hotels in all of Dubai. The house with 674 rooms is aimed at business travelers and scores with its location on Dubai Creek and with its conference and congress center for up to 2,000 people. On the 15 hectare hotel complex there are no fewer than 14 restaurants and bars as well as the usual leisure facilities, topped off by the Grand Spa wellness center. A range of massage treatments is offered there, among other things. Anyone traveling with family will be happy about the swimming pools for children and toddlers. A 450-meter circuit for jogging rounds off the leisure offer.

Cheap

Landmark hotel

This reasonably priced 4-star hotel is recommended for its central location. The 160 en suite rooms are clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and accommodating, but the hotel otherwise only offers the basic program. One advantage, however, is the free parking for guests. The modern building with a glass facade has a small business center and a swimming pool.

Oasis Beach Hotel

This 4-star hotel is located directly on the beach of the Dubai Marina and offers particularly good value for money. Many of the facilities of the Oasis Beach Hotel would be more likely to be found in the neighboring 5-star hotels. It is advisable to book a room with a view of the water towards Palm Jumeirah. There are swimming pools for children and adults (the latter with an integrated bar), a private beach, meeting rooms, a wellness center and a good selection of restaurants and bars. The neighboring apartments of the 245-meter-high Dubai Tower are managed by the same management as the hotel. You can rent luxurious two-, three- and four-room apartments with a wonderful view, but the minimum is three nights. Guests of the Dubai Tower can use all hotel facilities.
