The evolution of Samsung’s smart watches could make an interesting turn in the coming months. The South Korean firm had played two bands and had launched devices basedon both Android Wear and Tizen, but that will change in the short term.
Company executives have indicated in an interview that “there are no devices neither in development nor planned based on Android Wear”. Samsung will bet everything to Tizen, and one of the reasons is blunt: This operating system is ” much more efficient than Android Wear”.
In those comments Samsung executives indicated that Tizen is already already being used in TVs and refrigerators, and it seems that the push to Tizen could be definitive with this decision that comes just when we know that Android Wear 2.0 , announced on Google I/O, Was going to introduce interesting improvements to the platform.
In Samsung had bet on Android Wear with its Galaxy Gear Live , but Tizen had been absolute protagonist in the rest of devices: Gear S2, Gear S, Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear are based on this platform, and the question is Clear: Will Samsung be successful in this segment with a less widespread platform and less support from developers? We’ll see how the play comes out in the coming months.
